This beat lies just above Innerleithen and consists of approximately two miles of Upper Tweed fishing. The countryside surrounding
the beat is most attractive, with a mixture of policy woodlands surrounding old country houses, forestry plantations and heather
hills.
The beat catches nearly all its fish in October and November and offers very reasonable prices for those wanting to fish then. If
there is plenty of water, fishing will start in early October, but in a drought year this may not be until later in the month.
The fishing itself comprises one mile of double bank at the top of the beat and a further one mile of the north bank only at the
bottom of the beat, which is opposite to Traquair.
There are six main pools to fish, being: Woodend, Girley, Fawnburn, Whin, Stream and Jawstane.
The beat is fished by six rods, who will rotate around these pools on a regular basis. There is a basic hut and good access to the
beat from the A72 Innerleithen to Peebles road.
There is a part time gillie, who is also the farm manager, who will meet rods and show them the water. Thereafter he will visit from
time to time, between his other estate duties, to give whatever help is needed.
