This beat lies just above Innerleithen and consists of approximately two miles of upper Tweed fishing. The countryside surrounding
the beat is most attractive, with a mixture of policy woodlands surrounding old country houses, forestry and heather hills.
The beat catches nearly all its fish in October and November and offers very reasonable prices for those wanting to fish then. If
there is plenty of water, fishing will start in early October, but in a drought year this may not be until later in the month.
The fishing itself comprises one mile of double bank at the top of the beat and a further one mile of the north bank only at the
bottom of the beat, which is opposite Traquair fishings.
There are seven main pools to fish: Jawstane, Whinstream, Fawnburn, Girley, Bushes, Bridge and Woodend Pool.
The number of rods allowed to fish is six, split into two beats and rotating on an am/pm basis. The owner reserves the right to fish
a seventh rod, but only when conditions are favourable.
There is a ghillie who will meet rods and show them the water. Thereafter he will visit from time to time to give whatever help is
needed. There is a good hut with good access and parking to the beat from the A72 Innerleithen to Peebles road.
Since November 2008, this beat has been under new ownership of a keen and passionate fly fisherman. The new owner intends to make
improvements and raise standards where possible.
